Boys High School Post-Game Report: Navigators vs Huskies

Date: Tuesday, 9/30/25

Location: Away @ St. Joe Northfield Athletic Complex

Score: SB Navigators 5 – St. Joe JV2 1

Summary

The Navigators hit the road last night to face St. Joe’s JV2 squad under the lights—and they delivered an exciting performance!

The Navs controlled much of the pressure early, keeping the ball on St. Joe’s half. But St. Joe capitalized on a small opening to strike first. Undeterred, the Navigators kept pushing, and David Cocanower answered with a volley off a corner from his brother, Andrew.

With less than a minute before halftime, Max Schavey muscled past the back line, winning a one-on-one with the keeper and slotting it home to give the Navs a 2–1 lead at the break.

The second half was hard-fought, with both teams battling between the boxes. Jaron Caldwell broke through next, sneaking in front of the keeper for the slightest of touches that found the back of the net. Then Schavey struck again, ripping a beautiful shot from outside the box that zipped past the goalie.

The final goal came from Paul Barrett, who made an electrifying run down the outside, faked with his right to leave defenders on the ground, then calmly finished with his left to seal the victory.

A true team effort—solid defense, relentless pressure, and great chemistry carried the Navigators to a strong win.

Coach’s Notes

From Coach Caldwell

Tonight was an exciting game for our boys. We love the ability to play local high school teams and I always tell the boys to appreciate any game you can play under the lights!

While we had a rough start with missed opportunities and giving up a goal that shouldn’t have been, we rallied behind out captains, Max Schavey and Paul Barrett. Max put the team on his shoulders and willed two goals into existence from his CM position. Paul capitalized the night with a tremendous run and finish that would make any coach proud.

The score did not truly reflect the intensity of the game, as two goals came late, but St. Joe battled hard and played a great game!

Next Game

The Navigators play their next game in a rematch against St. Thomas More Academy on Thursday, October 9.
